UFCW 21 - A Voice for Working America

Union Update

As you may have heard, UFCW 21 grocery store members working for the big national chains with expired contracts (primarily in King, Snohomish and Kitsap Counties) are taking a vote 9/22 - 9/25. This vote is likely to be a strike authorization vote. Haggen/TOP Foods members, both in those counties and beyond, will not be voting at this time.

Your employer has decided to bargain a contract directly with the union and has had a couple bargaining sessions. After the contract negotiations with the big national chains concludes, Haggen/TOP Foods has agreed to, at a minimum, abide by the major terms agreed to with the big chains. In addition, your employer has agreed to bargain language potentially beyond those terms.

In the meantime, as the big chain negotiations continue, Haggen/TOP Foods members can assist in the struggle for a fair contract – a contract that at a minimum will set important standards for our health plan and pensions.

Keep informed. Keep involved.
